VON Canada has been pioneering care at home for more than 120 years. As a non-profit organization, VON works with clients, staff, volunteers and partners to provide innovative clinical, personal and social support to people who want the comfort and peace of mind of living in their own homes and communities. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, VON’s home care nurses, personal support workers, therapists, nurse practitioners and other front-line staff have continued to deliver essential health care and social support to people who rely on it. VON is known for excellence in care and is proud to ensure that their vital services are delivered safely, when and where they are needed most.
Support from the Scheinberg Relief Fund has been directed to VON’s seniors programmes and services across Ontario. The funding has facilitated the training of 6,000 staff and volunteers to deliver client-centred care through Reassurance Calls and to equip existing teams to adapt to virtual workspaces and programming. In addition, the Scheinberg Relief Fund is ensuring that the over 2,000 low income seniors who have been referred to VON’s 3 food security programmes receive the support they need, as well as assisting VON with the cost of purchasing the PPE needed to protect staff and seniors against contracting COVID-19.
