Masks for Medics

WHAT THEY DO

Masks for Medics is a disaster management Non-Profit Company based in Cape Town, South Africa. They procure and donate medical-grade personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontline healthcare workers in the Western Cape Province. Masks for Medics supplies surgical masks, high risk masks (N95/KN95), gloves, visors, gowns, sanitiser, thermometers, and pulse oximeters to healthcare workers across the spectrum – nurses, carers, emergency responders, doctors, funeral undertakers, mental health workers, palliative care doctors and physiotherapists. With a focus on “caring for the carer”, Masks for Medics is committed to their core aim of keeping the frontline workers safe.

IMPACT

Funding has been provided by the Scheinberg Relief Fund to cover the PPE needs of 116 care homes for the elderly (with 11,041 residents and 6,527 staff) across the Greater Metropole of Cape Town for 3 months, to supply the PPE required to protect St John Ambulance’s community care workers for 6 months, as well as core funding towards Masks for Medics overheads and expenses for 6 months.
